Get out a sheet of paper and title it "13-3 Notes"
Copy these notes:
The organization of multiple cell organisms
- Cell - the smallest living part of an organism.
- Tissue - a group of similar cells that perform a common function.
- Organ - a collection of tissues that carry out a specialized function for the body.
- Organ System - a group of organs working together to perform a particular function.
- Organism - Anything that can perform life process BY ITSELF.
Under the 13-3 notes, title it "13-3 Organism Organization Class Discussion" Discuss and answer the questions in your group. You must write the question and answer.
- Name an organism.
- Name an organ system in the organism.

- Name the tissue in the organ.
- Name the cell in the tissue.
On the back of the 13-3 notes page, title it "Organization of Living Things", copy the pyramid and fill in the term and definition going from smallest to largest.
Organism Organization Acrostic
On an index card title it "Organism Organization Acrostic"
Make an acrostic for: Cell, Tissue, Organ, organ System, Organism (C, T, O, S, O) To remember the order of organization in multi-cellular organisms.
Give each group the Organism Organization cards and have them put them in order from smallest to largest.
Now put them in order from largest to smallest.
How do you use your acrostic for largest to smallest?
Have students in groups match the term with the definition,
Race
- line up - students are to get in order from smallest to largest and see who can do it the fastest. Have each group shuffle and give the cards to another group.
- race to the term - teacher reads the definition and one person from the team is to race to the term.
